9am to 9pm with Carla Wehbe

By Carla Wehbe

Over the last year, “a day in the life” has never looked so stagnant. What was once routine has become standstill; we’ve lost the little rituals we used to take for granted. To find them again, we have to look at life a little differently. We created our ongoing series 9am to 9pm to get a glimpse into where artists find creative inspiration in their daily lives.

In this edition, we dig into the day-to-day life of Sydney’s Carla Wehbe. Flick through the photo diary below to get a glimpse into Carla’s bright-eyed life, full of dog walking, custom painting, and song writing.

5:07. I woke up and stayed in bed doing some work until 6:53. No, I did not scroll through Tiktok, I don’t know what you’re talking about.

at around 8am my dog Astro came in to my room and chucked a tantrum cause he wanted to go to the park so at 8:29 we left to go to the park. He played with some of his friends and then we went home.

11:23. I started painting a cheap guitar I bought recently on marketplace. I had no idea what type of design I wanted, so I just made it up as I went. Pretty sure I was high off the spray paint fumes lol.

13:03. while I was painting the guitar, I thought of a cool melody and started to develop a concept, so after I had finished painting it, I left it to dry and started the song idea in my studio. It was a song about Astro (my dog).

15:17. I started painting a pair of vans I had been meaning to paint for ages. I used the 70s as inspiration for the design and I love how they turned out 🙂

18:37. I got dressed for the warner music ARIA viewing party and left home. My social anxiety was having a field day but it was great to properly meet my team (wasn’t able to because of lockdown) who are all amazing. Later in the night the head of Warner Music did a duet with Masked Wolf of ‘Astronaut in the Ocean’ safe to say that was the highlight of the night.

23:51. It way past my bed time, but after a very creatively productive/fun day I finally got to sleep.

Carla Wehbe’s latest single “hurts to love you” is out now and ready for your listening pleasure below:
